What is Serialization?

Hi!! everybody!! Can anybody explain me what is Serialization and de serialization in ASP.net and how it is used, and what is the advantage of it!

Hi serialization is a process of converting an object to stream of bites to pass from one network to another network or from one application domain to another application domain. Deserialization is vice-versa process. I think this can be used in two ways. 1. marshal by value 2. marshal by reference
