I created a web site for a small company and got feedback said that I did not make a prosessional web site.
It confused me what is What is professional design for web site?
How to make it?
Professional design has a different meaning to everyone. I suggest you take a look at other web sites that have the same funtionality as yours and look at Template-Monster.com. It has a lot of great looking web sites. http://www.templatemonster.com/
There are no definition for professional design for web site. There are some sites that client likes and thinks that it is professional design for web site. So next time when you start doing design for the client, ask him for the sites that he likes.
Draw something simmilar in photoshop and ask client if he likes it and only after that start doing actual html.
You should ask for clarification of the issues they have with the website you delivered.
That said, as a professional website designer, I would expect certain things of you if I was to hire you. For example, I would expect every page of the new site to pass w3c validation. I would expect to see all style information in an external CSS file. Also, I would expect you to use tables only for tabular data. I would further expect the site pages to be accessible to the visually impaired; therefore as a minimum I would expect appropriate descriptions in alt tags on all images, proportional fonts, and navigation possible without a mouse.
I would also expect appropriate, relevant and unique meta data on every page to include as a minimum, unique page titles and unique meta descriptions. Not so fussed about meta keywords.
I would expect the site to look the pretty much the same in IE, FF, and Safari.
I would not expect to see innapropriate or irrelevant use of meta tags (e.g. <meta name="robots" content="index, all" /> )
I would not expect the use of frames, or iframes.
If search engine traffic is important, then I would expect only appropriate use of AJAX technology.
